CNC MILL, LATHE AND CONVENTIONAL MACHINISTS
Individuals with five years experience running CNC milling machines (Fanuc
controls a plus), NC lathes, conventional machines, and/or any combination of NC
and conventional precision machine experience. Familiarity with aerospace

WIRE EDM MACHINIST
Wire EDM Operator with CNC and/or conventional machine experience. Applicants should have at least five years experience running wire EDM machines. Knowledge of the Charmillies wire EDM machines a plus.Apply to Job Code 2005-01.

Location
Newport News, a city of more than 185,000, is at the mid-point of the
Atlantic Coast and at the center of the Hampton Roads area. Newport News is
served by interstate highways, rail, the Port of Hampton Roads and three
commercial airports.
More than 20 international firms have located in the city, including
Siemens, Canon, Muller Martini, Ferguson Enterprises, TwinPak and Iceland
Seafood. MCI and UPS have major tele-services here.
Technology in the Area
Two national laboratories, The Jefferson Lab and NASA's Langley Research
Center, give the city an impressive technology base. The labs support local
industry through both contracting and technology transfer.
In the private sector, Siemens conducts auto motive research and
development. Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia's largest private-sector
employer, also has evolved into a high-tech company. The city's Economic
Development Authority is building the $58 million Virginia Advanced
Shipbuilding and Carrier Integration Center, where shipyard engineers and
university researchers will help design aircraft carriers. The EDA is also
building a 195,000-square-foot Downtown Engineering Center for the shipyard.
Six universities with graduate programs, two community colleges and a
medical college enhance the region's science and technology environment.
Quality of Life
Workers are attracted to the region's superb lifestyle. The James
River, Chesapeake Bay and nearby Atlantic Ocean provide abundant water
recreation. Waterfront homes are surprisingly affordable, and a choice of
several golf club communities are found throughout the area.
Area attractions include Colonial Williamsburg, along with Busch Gardens.
World-class museums include The Mariner's Museum and The Virginia Living
Museum. Cultural amenities such as symphony, ballet, opera and theater
are available.
