Vigilante VTOL UAV:

ATI and strategic partner SAIC developed and produce the highly capable Vigilante VTOL UAV system for sale to domestic and foreign customers. The 1000lb UAV is based on the Ultrasport kit helicopter and can carry a wide range of mission payload equipment. The basic system is easily transported, requires as few as two crew to operate, and includes an air vehicle, ground control station, redundant datalinks, and ground support equipment. ATI produces the air vehicle platform, while SAIC provides the Automatic Flight Control System and the Ground Control Station. Mission Equipment suites are integrated per customer needs.

Several configurations of the Vigilante have been flown since the first flight in 1998. Optionally piloted vehicles weighing 600 and 1100 pounds were first used to develop the autonomous flight control system. The current Vigilante 502 has an unmanned fuselage and a turbocharged 4-stroke mogas engine, giving the user up to 6 hours endurance with 150 pounds of payload. Mission payloads including the Wescam 12DS-200, the Tamam POP-100, a geo-registered optical targeting system, and the HURL-II Smart Rocket Launcher have been demonstrated. TCS Level 5 Control of the air vehicle and payload (including firing Hydra 70 rockets) has been demonstrated from an airborne ‘mothership’ with the operator stations strapped down in the cabin of the Army UH-1. Customers include the US Army and Navy.
